Mrs. Brammer's Class

Please have your child bring a water bottle to school.  We do not have a drinking fountain in our classroom and with the hot weather it is a necessity!  Thank you!

Welcome to 1st Grade

Dear First Grade Parents,
Welcome!  I am excited to be your child’s teacher, and look forward to a wonderful school year!  This will be the first of many letters.  It is difficult for 6 and 7 year olds to get accurate information home no matter how hard they try!  So please be sure to check your child’s Wednesday envelope for important letters.  Your child will bring home an envelope every Wednesday with notes, flyers, and their completed work from the previous week.  Please initial the envelope and return it empty to school the next day.

About Mrs Brammer:
I am beginning my 5th year of teaching this year!  This is my 4th year teaching at Beartooth. I also spent a year at Central Heights teaching 1st grade!  I was born and raised in Billings.

Contact Information:
Please call if you have any questions or concerns.  Often a child will tell you that something is bothering them, but they will not mention it at school.  You are your child’s best advocate, and I want them to have a great year.  If we communicate, we will alleviate problems quickly.  I have a direct line to my room.  The number is 281-6361.  This will be answered only before and after school.  All voice mails will be listened to at the end of the school day after the children have gone home.  If you have questions or a message that needs to get to your child or myself before the school day is over, you need to call the office.  The office number is 281-6202.  Another way for us to communicate is through
e-mail.  My e-mail address is brammerk@billingsschools.org  If you like to communicate through e-mail send me a short message so I can make sure I have your correct address. Don’t hesitate to contact me about anything, we are all in this together!

Lunch:
Buying and ordering lunch can be a scary process for many first graders.  It takes a while for us to adjust to the routine.  We highly recommend paying for lunch monthly or weekly, instead of sending money daily.  This saves a tremendous amount of time.  Student lunch costs $2.45 daily.  If your child wants to buy milk to drink with their cold lunch, the cost is $0.60.  You may pay for lunch in the gym before school.

Labels:
Please label all sweaters, boots, coats, lunch boxes, etc.  It is amazing how many of us shop at the same stores.  Labels help avoid confusion.  Before buying winter boots and coats, make sure your child can pull on boots quickly and zip their own coat.

P.E.:
Our class will have P.E. every Monday.  For comfort and safety, rubber soled shoes should be worn.  Please make sure your child is wearing comfortable pants or shorts on this day also.  Our P.E. teacher is Mr. Keenan Pfeifle.

Library:
Our library day will be Thursday.  Books need to be returned in order to check out a new book.  Your child will bring home their library book every Tuesday.  Please help them remember their books each week.  Our library teacher is Mrs. Mandy Huck.

Music:
Music will be on Monday.  Our music teacher is Mrs. Martin.  There are many dancing and running activities, so please make sure your child is wearing running shoes.  No flip-flops or sandals.

Last Note:
Going to school all day is a big adjustment for children.  By 9:00 one child is already hungry and another thinks it is time to go home!  We suspect that you may see tears and frayed nerves in the coming weeks.  Be patient!  Please remember that a child is not capable of judging what is an appropriate bedtime.  Also, for them to do their best work, they need to be well rested and eat a good breakfast.  Please call if you have any questions.  I am excited for the new school year.

Welcome to First Grade!

August 26, 2013
My name is Kristy Brammer, and I am excited to be your child’s teacher this year!  Tonight you can also meet other teachers and staff, buy a lunch ticket, and sign up to ride the bus.

Use the labels on your child’s desk to make sure their name is on their school box, crayons, folders, notebooks, Crayola markers and Playdoh.  Please put 2 pencils, a glue stick, one box of crayons, scissors, and highlighter in their school box.  Next, place the remaining supplies in the labeled tubs at the back of the room.  Last, take home the paper packet on their desk and return it to school later this week.

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 28th. We begin at 8:25am.  Students will line up at entrance A, on the B1 line.  I will come outside to greet them when the bell rings.  Students should not be at school any earlier than 8:10am.

Dismissal is at 2:30pm, and we will dismiss outside of entrance A.  PLEASE REMIND YOUR CHILD TO SAY, “GOOD-BYE” TO ME DIRECTLY BEFORE THEY GO, SO THAT I AM SURE THEY ARE LEAVING WITH THE APPROPRIATE PERSON!

I like to keep parents up-to-date on school and classroom happenings through weekly newsletters that go home in Wednesday folders.

Before you leave tonight, please be sure to fill out the form letting me know how your child will get home from school.  Also, if you could provide your email address, that would be helpful.  I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child this year!  If you have any questions or concerns, contact me at 281-6361 or by email brammerk@billingsschools.org.

Thanks,

Kristy Brammer
